Short, because we use very few, and ask before any that are not needed.
The public site
This site sets no cookies unless you sign in or say yes to analytics. There is nothing for advertising and nothing that tracks you across other websites.
When you sign in
Signing in to your account sets one cookie, so the site remembers you are logged in as you move between pages. It is necessary for the account to work, it is not used for advertising, and it is removed when you sign out.
Our sub-processors
The companies we rely on to run the service (listed on the data processing page) may set their own necessary cookies when their part of the product loads, for example the payment page when you check out. These are limited to making that function work.
Analytics, only if you say yes
On your first visit we ask whether we may count your visit with Google Analytics. If you say yes, Google sets its cookies (their names start with _ga) so we can see which pages help people and where visitors come from. They last up to 13 months. We have switched off Google's advertising features, and the address of a private scan, proof or score page is never sent.
If you say no, nothing from Google loads at all. We still count visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and records nothing that identifies you.
Your choice
Your answer is kept in one necessary cookie (gc_consent) for six months, so we do not ask on every page. You can change it at any time, and saying no removes Google's cookies.
